State-Mandated Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress (TXG-SAP)
The Texas state legislature has included specific standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress for students receiving TEXAS Grants. As with the general SAP policy, the TXG-SAP has both a quantitative and qualitative standard that must be achieved each year to renew the award.
Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) - GPA and Completion Rate
|GPA||End of Initial Year||Institution's SAP Policy|
|End of Subsequent Years||Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA*|
|Completion Rate||End of Initial Year||Institution's SAP Policy|
|End of Subsequent Years||Successful completion of 24 hours for the year.**|
|Maximum Time Frame to receive the TEXAS Grant||First received the TEXAS Grant as a High School Graduate||Five (5) years from the start of the semester in which the student first received the TEXAS Grant or 150 attempted hours while receiving the TEXAS Grant, whichever come first|
*Since the GPA requirement is cumulative, eligibility can be regained in the fall for a spring award, or in the summer for a fall award.
**Since the completion rate is for the year, eligibility can be regained in the summer for a fall award.
