Eligibility Requirements for Financial Aid

In general, a student is eligible for financial aid if he or she meets the following requirements:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or an eligible non-citizen;
  • Have a demonstrated financial need;
  • Be making satisfactory academic progress (as defined by the college) in the course of study;
  • Not be in default on a Federal Perkins Loan, Federal Direct Stafford Loan, or Federal Direct PLUS Loan;
  • Be enrolled at a college in a program that leads to a degree or certificate;
  • VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: Students must select an eligible primary program of study prior to the first disbursement of financial aid. To select an eligible degree or certificate program, please log on to eConnect and visit My Program of Study at https://eConnect.dcccd.edu/eConnect/eConnect.

  • Have a high school diploma or G.E.D., or complete a homeschooling certificate at the secondary level as defined by the State of Texas;
  • Be registered with the selective service if required to do so; and
  • Not owe a refund on a Federal Pell Grant or other Federal financial aid awards.
