Brookhaven campus only

  • Students pursuing this award program are required to meet Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards and course prerequisites.
  • Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College.

Degree Plan Code: AAS.BHC.RADIOLOG.19

This program prepares the student to become a professional radiologic technologist with a specialty in radiography. The radiographer uses radiation to produce internal images of the patient which are used by the physician to make a diagnosis. For the vast majority of diagnostic procedures, the radiographer has total responsibility for the care and well-being of the patient and must be prepared to produce quality images with care and empathy.

The graduate radiographer is eligible to sit for the examination given by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and eligible to be a Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist licensed by the Texas Department of Health. Radiographers work in hospitals, physician's offices, and primary care facilities.

Completion of the program and successful completion of the ARRT examination provides the graduate with credentials to continue their education in other radiologic specialty disciplines. The Brookhaven campus program is programmatically accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), 20 N. Wacker Drive, Suite 2850, Chicago, Illinois 60606-3182; Phone: 312-704-5300; Fax: 312-704-5304.
