ASSOCIATE DEGREE NURSING
(Associate in Applied Sciences Degree)

The Associate Degree Nursing Program is a two-year, 60 credit hour program, leading to the Associate in Applied Sciences Degree. The program prepares graduates to be eligible to write the NCLEX-RN Examination to become licensed as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) in Texas. The program is accredited by the Texas Board of Nursing, (333 Guadalupe, Suite 3-460, Austin, Texas 78701: Telephone number 512-305-7400) and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (3343 Peachtree Road, NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, Georgia 30326: Telephone number 404-975-5020).
The program combines classroom and skills laboratory experience with hospital clinical experience.
This will award the student 60 total credit hours for the program.
The program offered at North Lake is under the administration and accreditation of the El Centro College Associate Degree Nursing program. Students will attend classes at North Lake, but receive their degrees from El Centro.

LVN licensed students admitted into the Associate Degree Nursing program will follow the degree plan below.
FIRST YEAR - PREREQUISITES TO PROGRAM ADMISSION
*Upon successful completion of RNSG 1324, the student will be awarded an additional 13 semester credit hours of equivalency (articulated) credit for the following courses:
+Humanities/Fine Arts Elective - must be selected from the AAS Core Options for Humanities/Fine Arts.
A grade of "C" or better is required for all courses. Support courses must be completed before or during the semester indicated.
The Associate Degree Nursing AAS offered by El Centro College is a requirement prior to this Enhanced Skills Certificate.

Degree Plan Code: ES.NURS.PERIOP.INTERN
This two-semester program offers registered and graduate nurses the opportunity to acquire additional theory and skills required for patient care in the surgical setting. The perioperative approach to patient care is employed. Principles of surgical asepsis, patient care, use of surgical supplies and equipment, and ethical/legal aspects are presented. The emphasis of the program is on the scrub and circulating roles in perioperative nursing. Nurses enrolled in this program must hold a current license from the Board on Nursing for the State of Texas, or be a graduate of a nursing program eligible for the next NCLEX-RN examination.
