This program is designed to prepare musicians to compose music for the dynamic commercial music industry. In addition to preparing the student to compose, arrange and orchestrate original melodies in commercial idioms (including jazz, rock, pop, hip-hop, rhythm and blues, Electronic Dance Music (EDM), film, video game, etc.); students are given a firm foundation in fundamentals of music theory, ear training, ensembles, and music notation technology. Emphasis is placed on relevance to the demands of the current music industry and the specific needs of each commercial music student composer.

This program is designed to help the latest generation of digital music producers, beat-makers, and songwriters "hit-the-ground-running" with relevant, cutting-edge tools for addressing the needs of this global industry. Emphasis is on music technology in a big way, based on a firm foundation in MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) and Digital Audio Workstations (i.e. Logic Pro, Garage Band, Finale, etc.) including instruction on adding music and sound effects to film and video. This exciting curriculum is bolstered and supplemented by applied music (private lessons), ensembles, and classes in the fundamentals of audio, keyboard skills, music business, and recital (concert etiquette). Emphasis is placed on relevance to the demands of the current music industry and the specific needs of each commercial music student producer/composer.

This program is designed to prepare commercial musicians with additional skills in the field of recording technology. In addition to preparing the student in vocal or instrumental commercial music techniques, training is provided in the basic console recording skills such as microphone selection and placement, mix down techniques, master tape production, studio techniques, trouble-shooting, and session procedures.
