Clinical - Emergency Medical Technology/Technician (EMT Paramedic) This is a WECM Course Number. Prerequisite Recommended: (1) Current CPR certification at the Health Care Provider level by the Emergency Care and Safety Institute (ECSI), American Red Cross (ARC), or American Heart Association (AHA); (2) Certification by the Texas Department of State Health Services or Registration by the National Registry of EMT as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic or higher; (3) Completion of EMSP 2260 and EMSP 2261 or concurrent enrollment in EMSP 2553. Corequisite/Concurrent: Students will be required to submit to and pass a criminal background search and a drug screen as prescribed by the program and college. Failure to comply will result in the student being dropped from all EMSP courses. Successful completion or concurrent enrollment in EMSP 2143 or EMSP 2553 is required to enroll in EMSP 2463. Course Description: A health related work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills, and concepts. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. (19 Ext.)
