Special Populations
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: (1) Current BCLS (CPR) certification at the Health Care Provider level by the American Heart Association or equivalent, (2) Successful completion of EMSP 1338 or EMSP 1438 and EMSP 1356, (3) Current certification by the Texas Department of State Health Services as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic or higher.
Corequisite/Concurrent: Students will be required to submit to and pass a criminal background search and a drug screen as prescribed by the program and college. Failure to comply will result in the student being dropped from all EMSP courses.
Course Description: Knowledge and skills necessary to assess and manage ill or injured patients in diverse populations to include neonatology, pediatrics, geriatrics and other related topics. (3 Lec., 2 Lab.)
