Founded in 1978, Brookhaven College is one of the seven colleges of the Dallas County Community College District.

The college offers a full range of freshman- and sophomore-level academic credit courses, which may be applied toward an associate degree or transferred to a four-year college or university. Career and technical education programs leading to a degree, certificate or skills award prepare students for entrance into the workforce. Service opportunities are also available for students to enrich their educational experience by volunteering with community- based programs.

Brookhaven College works cooperatively with businesses in offering professional development and corporate training to build an effective workforce. In addition, the college engages the community through cultural enrichment opportunities such as continuing education classes for individuals and numerous events and programs open to all.
