The college libraries are information centers that support academic programs and career pathways for both campus-based and distance education modes of delivery. Each college library maintains a substantial collection of books, journals and electronic resources, including online databases, research guides and other media. Most electronic resources are accessible from off-campus. Books may be requested from other colleges in the district.
The college librarians introduce students, faculty and staff to the tools needed to navigate an increasingly complex world of information resources. Librarians support faculty instruction and work directly with students, inside and outside the classroom. Through library instruction and personalized research assistance, students increase their knowledge base and develop the critical thinking and information literacy skills they need to realize personal or academic goals and to pursue lifelong learning.
Willful damage to library materials (or property) or actions disturbing other library users may lead to the loss of library privileges. Damage cases are referred to the appropriate authorities for further action. All books and other library materials must be returned before the end of each semester. Registration will be blocked and student transcripts will not be issued until all library records are cleared.
