Title: Associate of Science Degree in Software Engineering

Offered on Richland Campus in conjunction with the University of Texas at Dallas

This is an "Articulated" degree with the University of Texas at Dallas.

In order to be eligible to receive this A.S. degree in Software Engineering, a student must:

  • Complete a minimum of 60 credit hours indicated in this degree plan;
  • Earn a grade of "C" or better in English 1301 and the selected college-level mathematics course;
  • Receive a GPA of at least 2.00 ("C")
  • Give permission to DCCCD and UTD to share transcript data in order to evaluate degree program progress and assist in degree completion requirements and reporting;
  • Meet all Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements and course prerequisites; and
  • Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College.

Students who complete this degree with no grade below that of "C" and who meet all admissions requirements at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) will be accepted into UTD's Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering program. Students should follow this plan only if they wish to transfer to UTD in Software Engineering. Students wishing to transfer to another university should not assume this entire plan will transfer.

This degree does not include all Core course requirements. Students who plan to transfer must work closely with an advisor/counselor.

Students completing this degree must submit to UTD a completed Texas Common Application within 12 months of their anticipated enrollment at UTD.

NOTE: Students must take both ENGR 1201 and ENGR 2105 to receive credit for UTD ECS 1200 and CE 1202. In addition, student will be required to make up one additional credit hour in major upper-level courses.

NOTE: Students enrolling in this program who plan to transfer to a four-year institution should consult an advisor or counselor regarding transfer requirements and the transferability of these courses to the four-year institution of their choice.
