- Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.
- Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College.

The Medical Coder Certificate Program is a 32 credit-hour program that prepares students with the technical skills and knowledge needed for successful entry-level coding positions in a variety of health care settings. The program provides training in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, computers and health information systems, legal and ethical aspects of health information, and coding and reimbursement methodologies. The curriculum also provides a foundation for students to prepare and complete the coding certification exams offered by AHIMA and AAPC.
