Course Description: Advanced pediatric echocardiographic procedures including: 12 lead EKG interpretation, transesophageal echocardiography, the use of contrast, intra-operative and interventional techniques. Considerations associated with intensive care of the pediatric patient will be addressed and includes; intracardiac monitoring lines and other accessories of the post-operative patient, pharmacological treatments, and other therapies. Course Description: Cardiac embryology, fetal circulation and cardiac congenital disease including anomalies of cardiac position, venous return, A-V valves, atria and ventricles. Emphasis placed on defect anatomy and hemodynamic consequences and the surgical repair or other treatment option associated with each anomaly. Echocardiographic imaging in the pre and post surgical patient will be covered. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)
