FIRE PROTECTION TECHNOLOGY - FIRE/ARSON INVESTIGATION

The Fire and Arson Investigation Certificate provides students with the technical and professional knowledge to prepare for a career in fire and arson investigation. The program is designed for students who desire employment and/or **certification as an Arson Investigator. All credits earned in this program may be applied toward the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fire Protection Technology.

**In order to be certified by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection as a Basic Arson Investigator, an individual must possess a current basic peace officer's license from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education or documentation that the individual is a federal law enforcement officer; hold a current commission as a peace officer with the employing entity for which the arson investigations will be done; and complete a commission approved basic fire investigation training program and successfully pass the commission examination.

The Associate Degree Program in Fire Protection Technology integrates professional firefighting technical skills related to the everyday demands of the profession with academic and fire science courses covering fire service organization, strategy and tactics, fire codes and alarm and extinguishing systems, to provide graduates with the necessary ancillary knowledge to advance into supervisory and/or management level positions.
