Tuition Exemptions

Exemptions are a type of financial assistance allowing some Texas residents to attend a public college or university in Texas without paying tuition or, in some cases, tuition and fees. Examples include the following:
- Blind or deaf students
- Children of disabled firemen and peace officers
- Children of prisoners of war or persons missing in action
- Salaried Fire fighters enrolled in fire science courses
- Foster-care students
- Highest ranking high school graduate
- ROTC/National Guard students
- Senior citizens,
- Hazelwood Exemption (for Texas Veterans)
- Children of U.S. Military who are Missing in Action or Prisoners of War (MIA/POWs),
- Orphans of Texas Members of the U.S. Armed Forces or National Guard
