- Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.
- Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by the college awarding the degree.

The Paramedic Certificate option is for students already certified as Emergency Medical Technicians. Potential students will be considered on an individual basis to determine if they have an adequate background in anatomy and physiology, math and reading.
This certificate is in compliance with the Texas Department of State Health Services as mandated to include a minimum of 1000 clock hours of classroom, laboratory, clinical and field instruction which shall include supervised experiences in the emergency department and with a licensed EMS provider and in other settings as needed to develop the competencies defined in the minimum curriculum.
NOTE: Semesters I, II, and III of the certificate will be completed in 6.5 months for the Academy Class and 11.5 months for the Shift Based Class.
