Eligibility for Federal Student Financial Aid
To be eligible for federal financial aid, you must:- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen;
- Have a demonstrated financial need (See Steps to Apply for Financial Aid)
- Have a high school diploma or GED, or meet special ability-to-benefit requirements
- Be registered with Selective Service (if required)
- Be enrolled in an eligible program Note: Students who are applying for financial aid must select an eligible program of study before the first disbursement (distibution) of fianancial aid. To select an eligible degree or certificate program, please log in to eConnect and visit My Program of Study.
- Be in compliance with Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy for federal aid
- Not owe a refund on a federal grant or be in default on a federal educational loan
Eligibility for State Student Financial Aid
To be eligible for Texas State financial aid, you must:- Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen or be certified as HB 1403 eligible
- Have a demonstrated financial need (See Applying for Financial Aid)
- Have a high school diploma or GED, or meet special ability-to-benefit requirements
- Be registered with Selective Service (if required)
- Be enrolled in an eligible program Note: Students who are applying for financial aid must select an eligible program of study before the first disbursement (distibution) of fianancial aid.
