The program prepares students to perform duties of an entry-level Nanotechnician in research and development and manufacturing industries. Students will acquire knowledge, skills, and abilities to operate a variety of nanofabrication equipment, conduct safer laboratory techniques using nanomaterials and instrumentation, integrate didactic knowledge with nanotech applications, understand scientific principles and the behavior of matter at the atomic level in chemical, biological and molecular systems, identify processes for development of nanostructures that could include nanotubes, and molecular structural changes, and "wet" and "dry." Students may also participate in internships with employers within the industry for direct application of knowledge gained in the classroom environment for practical experience and on-the-job training. The Nanotechnology Program allows students the opportunity to bridge the gap between theory and practice as nanotechnicians. This degree program provides an external learning experience and/or capstone experience.
