ARAB 1311 (3 Credit Hours)
Course not offered this year at any colleges of DCCCD. Beginning Arabic I This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is a Core Curriculum course selected by the colleges of DCCCD. Course Description: This is the first semester of academic transfer Arabic. It is an introductory course intended for students with little or no knowledge of the language. Its aim is to present essential vocabulary and grammar, and to develop the pronunciation, listening, reading, and writing skills necessary for basic communication and comprehension. This is a Core Curriculum course selected by the colleges of DCCCD. Prerequisite Required: ARAB 1411. Course Description: This is the second semester of academic transfer Arabic. This course continues the oral practice, reading, writing, grammar and cultural studies begun in ARAB 1411. Students are expected to acquire a substantial amount of vocabulary and begin to deal with idiomatic language and more advanced syntax. This course is cross-listed as ARAB 1312, which is used only in Study Abroad programs. Students may register for either ARAB 1312 or ARAB 1412 but may receive credit for only one of the two.
