State-Mandated Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress (TXG-SAP)


The Texas state legislature has included specific standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress for students receiving TEXAS Grants. As with the general SAP policy, the TXG-SAP has both a quantitative and qualitative standard that must be achieved each year to renew the award.


Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) - GPA and Completion Rate

GPA End of Initial Year Institution's SAP Policy
End of Subsequent Years Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA*
Completion Rate End of Initial Year Institution's SAP Policy
End of Subsequent Years Successful completion of 24 hours for the year.**
Maximum Time Frame to receive the TEXAS Grant First received the TEXAS Grant as a High School GraduateFive (5) years from the start of the semester in which the student first received the TEXAS Grant or 150 attempted hours while receiving the TEXAS Grant, whichever come first


*Since the GPA requirement is cumulative, eligibility can be regained in the fall for a spring award, or in the summer for a fall award.
**Since the completion rate is for the year, eligibility can be regained in the summer for a fall award.
