This apprenticeship program, through North Lake College's partnership with the Construction Education Foundation (CEF), has been nationally approved by the National Center for Construction Education Center and Research (NCCER). Graduates of this award will be prepared for employment as a journeyman craft person. Successful completion of the entire curriculum and coordinated on-the-job training prepares the student for the required county, state or federal examinations. The student will also acquire math, science, communications, planning, problem solving, human relations, and management skills.

Students interested in a high demand career that is fast-paced with job opportunities--the Construction Industry is for you. The Construction Technology program is designed to develop the hands-on skills and technical knowledge necessary so that a graduate may advance in career paths appropriate to their own interests and abilities. Some of the exciting career options include: field engineer, estimator, building inspection, insurance and manufacturing representative, field supervisor, sub-contractor, and builder in either commercial or residential construction/home building. A graduate will have also covered skills in other areas such as planning, and organization, problem solving and decision making, related communication, and business and human relations.

Degree Plan Code: C1.CNBT.RESIDENTIAL
This is a one-year certificate that provides the student with the technical knowledge and hands-on skills required to work as a craftperson in Residential Building, Carpentry, or Contracting. In addition, the student will cover basic planning and materials estimating, problem solving, and human relations skills.
