This is an Academic Transfer Credit Course Number. This is a Core Curriculum course selected by the colleges of DCCCD.
Prerequisite Required: College level ready in Reading.
Corequisite/Concurrent: Students will be required to submit to and pass a criminal background search as prescribed by the program and college.
Course Description: A study of the child, family, community and school, including parent education and involvement, family and community lifestyles, child abuse, and current family life issues. Students are required to participate in 16 hours of field experiences with children from infancy through age 12 in a variety of settings with varied and diverse populations. Course content is aligned with State Board for Educator Certification Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities Standards. (3 Lec.)

Educating Young Children

Course Description: An introduction to the education of the young child, including developmentally appropriate practices and programs, theoretical and historical perspectives, ethical and professional responsibilities, and current issues.
