Special Topics in Nursing Assistant/Aide

Course Description: Instruction in first aid for the injured or ill persons. Includes lifesaving skills for respiratory and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants in a medical setting. During this course students will be awarded the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course Completion card. This course may be repeated if topics and learning outcomes vary. (2 Lec.)

Nurse Aide for Health Care

Course Description: Preparation for entry level nursing assistants to achieve a level of knowledge, skills, and abilities essential to provide basic care to residents of long-term care facilities. Topics include resident's rights, communication, safety, observation, reporting and assisting residents in maintaining basic comfort and safety. Emphasis on effective interaction with members of the health care team. (2 Lec., 3 Lab.)
