Release of Financial Aid Disbursements

The Business Office of the college cannot disburse financial aid awards until the student is enrolled in an eligible program of study as required by the guidelines of each applicable aid program. To select an eligible degree or certificate program, please log on to eConnect and visit My Program of Study. In addition, financial aid awards will not pay to the student's account for disbursement unless each financial aid award has been accepted on eConnect. To accept financial aid awards, students are instructed in the Award Notification e-mail to log on to eConnect to review and activate their awards. Some programs require attendance in all enrolled classes before aid may be released.

In general, aid may be applied to applicable tuition and fees no earlier than ten days prior to the start of classes each semester. Any excess amount of awards, up to $1000, remaining after tuition and fees are paid will be released to eligible students for textbooks and supplies no earlier than ten days prior to the start of classes.

The remainder of unpaid eligible awards, will be released to the student for the semester will be disbursed by the Business Office within fourteen days after the certification date of the semester.The Colleges of the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) process and distributes refunds and disbursements (including financial aid funds) with the help of Higher One, a financial services vendor.

Students are issued a MasterCard-branded card - the DCCCD Money Card - in the mail. The card gives the student access to the Higher One website where the student is instructed to choose one of three options for receiving disbursements: Deposit to a free Higher One checking account, ACH deposit to another checking account of student's choice, or a paper check mailed to the student's home.

Continuing students should file a FAFSA online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov as soon as possible after January 1 of each year to receive aid the next academic year in time for aid to pay registration fees.
