2014 - 2015 Combined Catalogs of the Colleges
Program: Welding Technology Degree Plan: Welding Technology AAS
(Associate in Applied Sciences Degree)
Mountain View only
- Students pursuing this award program are required to meet Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards and course prerequisites.
- Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by the college awarding the degree.
Degree Plan Code: AAS.WELDING.TECH
The Welding Technology program is designed to prepare the student in the basic processes of oxyacetylene and arc welding plus many specialized welding applications as options to fit the specific needs of the student. In addition, instruction is offered in related support areas such as metallurgy, tooling, drafting, pattern layout and characteristics of materials. Thus the program offers preparation for both entry-level jobs as well as welding inspectors.
The student will be required to purchase a basic set of tools which will be used in class and later on the job. Tool lists will be given
out by the instructor during the first week of classes.
