The Fire and Arson Investigation Certificate provides students with the technical and professional knowledge to prepare for a career in fire and arson investigation. The program is designed for students who desire employment and/or **certification as an Arson Investigator. All credits earned in this program may be applied toward the Associate in Applied Sciences Degree in Fire Protection Technology.
**In order to be certified by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection as a Basic Arson Investigator, an individual must possess a current basic peace officer's license from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education or documentation that the individual is a federal law enforcement officer; hold a current commission as a peace officer with the employing entity for which the arson investigations will be done; and complete a commission approved basic fire investigation training program and successfully pass the commission examination.
