This program is intended to educate a person in the field of solar /wind technology so that they can install a solar or wind system with minimum assistance. The emphasis is hands-on training. The curriculum is designed so that a graduate will be able to work in solar/wind related fields as well as installation technician, fields such as trouble shooting, sales, design, and management.

  • Students pursuing this certificate are waived from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but must meet course prerequisites.
  • Students must earn at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by the college awarding the degree.

Degree Plan Code: C1.RENEWSOLAR/WD.14

This certificate is intended to make a person employable as an Entry-Level Solar Installer or Entry-Level Residential Wind Turbine Installer with a minimum amount of time spent in training. The emphasis is on-hands on training with theory also presented. The courses contained in either certificate can be applied toward the AAS degree in renewable energy. These courses are designed to allow graduates to sit for entry-level national installer certifications.
