Pediatric Echocardiography Procedures
This is a Local Need Course.
Prerequisite: Completion of all previous program and support courses with a grade of "C" or better. Current American Heart Association, Class C Basic Life Support certification.
Corequisite/Concurrent: Concurrent enrollment in DSPE 2305 and DSAE 1465.
Course Description: Advanced pediatric echocardiographic procedures including: 12-lead EKG interpretation, trans-esophageal echocardiography, the use of contrast, intra-operative and interventional techniques. Considerations associated with intensive care of the pediatric patient will be addresses and includes intra-cardiac monitoring lines, and other accessories of the post-operative patient, pharmacological treatments, and other therapies. (2 Lec., 1 Lab.)

Pediatric Echocardiographic Evaluation
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: Completion of all previous program and support courses with a grade of "C" or better. Current American Heart Association, Class C Basic Life Support certification.
Corequisite/Concurrent: Concurrent enrollment in DSPE 2270 and DSAE 1465.
Course Description: Cardiac embryology, fetal circulation and cardiac congenital disease including anomalies of cardiac position, venous return, A-V valves, atria and ventricles. Emphasis placed on defect anatomy and hemodynamic consequences and the surgical repair or other treatment option associated with each anomaly. Echocardiographic imaging in the pre and post-surgical patient will be covered. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)

Pediatric Echocardiographic Evaluation II
This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite: Grade of "C" or better in all previous program and support courses. Current American Heart Association, Class C Basic Life Support certification.
Corequisite/Concurrent: Concurrent enrollment in DSAE 2255 and DSAE 2465.
Course Description: Study of cardiac congenital anomalies of the cono-truncus, aortic arch and broncho-pulmonary circuit. Cardiac tumors, non-neoplastic intra and extra cardiac masses, pericardial and pediatric acquired cardiovascular disease will be covered. (2 Lec., 4 Lab.)
