Certificates are part of the Career and Technical Program offerings. In order to be awarded a certificate, students must complete all program course requirements with a grade point average of 2.00 ("C") or better. Only the grades for the specific courses required in the certificate program will be used in calculating the GPA to determine eligibility for these awards.
Some certificate programs do not require you to meet Texas Success Initiative (TSI) standards, but course
prerequisite requirements (if any) for such certificates must be met. When students seek a TSI waiver based upon participation in one of these certificate programs, they cannot enroll in any course other than those required for completing the certificate program requirements. Enrollment in courses outside of the selected certificate that requires meeting TSI standards automatically removes the TSI waived status that has been granted.
The specific requirements for each certificate program are outlined within each technical specialization. See Career and Technical Programs.
