The theory of tools and equipment for electronic soldering techniques. The student will select and use appropriate soldering tools and equipment, demonstrate proper soldering techniques, and practice safety procedures. Emphasis will be primarily on terminal and printed circuit board through-hole soldering. This course is cross-listed as EECT 1204. This course is a study of communications systems with emphasis on amplitude modulation, frequency modulation, phase modulation, and digital pulse modulation. Discussion of several types of modulators, demodulators, receivers, transmitters, and transceivers. The student will describe the operation of communications receivers and transmitters; measure and troubleshoot communications systems; and describe the use of microwave receivers used in down-links in communications and the geographical regional transponder relationships used to communicate by cell phone.
