Course Description: A course that introduces the student to machining fundamentals. The student will use basic machine tools including the lathe, milling machine, drill press, power saw, and bench grinder. Machine terminology, theory, math, part layout, and bench work using common measuring tools is included. Emphasis is placed on shop safety, housekeeping, and preventative maintenance. This course is cross-listed as MCHN 1438. The student may register for either MCHN 1338 or MCHN 1438 but may receive credit for only one of the two. (1 Lec., 6 Lab.)
