Course Title: Medical Emergencies

This is a WECM Course Number.
Prerequisite Required: (1) Current BCLS (CPR) certification by the American Heart Association or equivalent, (2) Successful completion of EMSP 1338, (3) Current certification by the Texas Department of State Health Services as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic or higher.
Corequisite/Concurrent: Students will be required to submit to and pass a criminal background search and a drug screen as prescribed by the program and college. Failure to comply will result in the student being dropped from all EMSP courses.
Course Description: This course provides a detailed study of the knowledge and skills necessary to reach competence in the assessment and management of patients with medical emergencies. This course is cross-listed as EMSP 2534. The student may register for either EMSP 2434 or EMSP 2534 but may receive credit for only one of the two. (3 Lec., 3 Lab.)
