The Associate Degree Program in Fire Protection Technology integrates professional firefighting technical skills related to the everyday demands of the profession with academic and fire science courses covering fire service organization, strategy and tactics, fire codes and alarm and extinguishing systems, to provide graduates with the necessary ancillary knowledge to advance into supervisory and/or management level positions. The program is designed for students employed or those who desire employment in the fire service.
OPTION 1: This degree option is ONLY for students:
- Who DO NOT have Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) certification or affiliation.
- Who have not completed state approved Fire Fighting Training.

NOTE: Both FIRT and FIRS rubric courses are WECM courses and MAY NOT transfer to a four-year program as part of the transferable credits for the four-year degree.
Students enrolling in this program who plan to transfer to a four-year institution should consult an advisor or counselor regarding transfer requirements and the transferability of these courses to the four-year institution of their choice.
