Students interested in a high demand career that is fast-paced with job opportunities--the Construction Industry is for you. The Construction Technology program is designed to develop the hands-on skills and technical knowledge necessary so that a graduate may advance in career paths appropriate to their own interests and abilities. Some of the exciting career options include: field engineer, estimator, building inspection, insurance and manufacturing representative, field supervisor, sub-contractor, and builder in either commercial or residential construction/home building. A graduate will have also covered skills in other areas such as planning, and organization, problem solving and decision making, related communication, and business and human relations.

Students must complete the Semester 1I, 2II, 3III, and 4IV Curriculum listed above and all of the courses and/or electives listed in one of the emphasis listed below to receive a grand total of 60-credit hours towards the Construction Technology AAS degree:

• Residential Builder/Contractor Emphasis (total: 30 SCH)
• HVAC-Commercial Emphasis (total: 30 SCH)
• Pipefitting Emphasis (total: 30 SCH)
• Plumbing-Commercial Emphasis (total: 30 SCH)
• Electrical-Commercial Emphasis (total: 30 SCH)

+Residential Builder/Contractor Electives - Twelve (12) hours of electives must be chosen from the following:

+++HVAC-Commercial Electives - Six (6) hours of electives must be chosen from the following:

++++Pipefitting Electives - Six (6) hours of electives must be chosen from the following:

+++++Plumbing-Commercial Electives - Six (6) hours of electives must be chosen from the following:

++++++Electrical-Commercial Emphasis - Six (6) hours of electives must be chosen from the following:

Elective¹ - Humanities/Fine Arts Elective - must be selected from the AAS Core Options for Humanities/Fine Arts.

Elective² - Social/Behavioral Science Elective - must be selected from the AAS Core Options for Social/Behavioral Science.

Elective³ - Natural Science Elective - must be selected from the AAS Core Options for Natural Science.

NOTE: Students enrolling in this program who plan to transfer to a four-year institution should consult an advisor or counselor regarding transfer requirements and the transferability of these courses to the four-year institution of their choice.

This is a one-year certificate that provides the student with the technical knowledge and hands-on skills required to work as a craftperson in Residential Building, Carpentry, or Contracting. In addition, the student will cover basic planning and materials estimating, problem solving, and human relations skills.

Surveying technicians measure and collect data on specific areas of land including information about boundaries, buildings, and features both natural and man-made. They assist surveyors, cartographers, and photogrammetrists in collecting and processing the data necessary for implementing engineering and construction projects from start to finish. Further educational opportunities allow graduates to seek Associates and Bachelor degrees in this field.
