ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN COMPUTER ENGINEERING

Offered on Richland Campus in conjunction with the
University of Texas at Dallas

Degree Code: AS.UTD.COMP.ENGR

This is an "Articulated" degree with the University of Texas at Dallas.

Students who complete this degree with no grade below that of "C" and who meet all admissions requirements at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) will be accepted into the UTD's Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering program. Students should follow this plan only if they wish to transfer to UTD in Computer Engineering. Students wishing to transfer to another university should not assume this entire plan will transfer.

In order to be eligible to receive this A.S. degree in Computer Engineering, a student must:

  1. Complete a minimum of 60 credit hours indicated in this degree plan;
  2. Earn a grade of "C" or better in English 1301 and the selected college-level mathematics course;
  3. Receive a GPA (2) of at least 2.00 ("C")
  4. Meet all Texas Success Initiative (TSI) requirements and course prerequisites; and
  5. Complete at least 25% of the credit hours required for graduation through instruction by Dallas College.

This degree does not include all Core Curriculum course requirements. Students who plan to transfer must work closely with an advisor/counselor.

Students completing this degree must submit to UTD a completed Texas Common Application within 12 months of their anticipated enrollment at UTD.

MATH 2413, 2414 and 2415 are required to satisfy MATH 2417 and 2419. UTD's accelerated two-semester calculus sequence, MATH 2417 and 2419, is equivalent to the three-semester calculus sequence offered at community colleges. Students must take Calculus I, Calculus II, and Calculus III in order to be equivalent.

Students must take both ENGR 1201 and 2105 to receive credit for the UTD ECS 1200 and CE 1202. In addition, student will be required to make up one additional credit hour in major upper level courses.
